Houston, Texas · Veteran-led 501(c)(3)
Everyone who served deserves a place to stay.
HFSV helps low-income veterans and seniors in Greater Houston find, secure, and keep safe, affordable housing — and stands beside them until they're home.
From first conversation to front-door key.
We meet veterans and seniors where they are, remove what stands between them and stable housing, and stay until they're home.
Community Outreach
We go where veterans and seniors already are — VA Houston, senior centers, Stand Downs, community events — to find people before crisis finds them.
Housing Needs Assessment
A person-to-person review of housing status, income, benefits, and barriers — so every step after is built on real information, not guesswork.
Benefits Navigation
Our specialty. HUD-VASH vouchers, VA Aid & Attendance, VA disability claims, SSVF, Medicaid waivers — we know these programs inside out and help complete the paperwork that unlocks the housing and income our clients have already earned.
Housing Navigation & Referral
Direct connection to Houston-area housing programs and trusted partners — we walk beside our clients from application to move-in day.
The Houston Resource Network
We maintain a living directory of Houston's food, transportation, legal aid, ID recovery, utility, and health resources — and we make warm introductions. When a social worker or client needs help beyond housing, we connect them to the right person, not just a phone number.
Follow-Through Reporting
Written 30, 90, and 180-day updates on every client referred to us — no exceptions. Referral partners always know how their placement turned out. We believe follow-through is what separates a promise from a program.

When someone who wore the uniform — or someone who spent a lifetime building this city — has nowhere safe to sleep, that's not their failure. It's ours to fix.
— Founder, HFSV
HFSV was founded in 2024 by an active U.S. Army Reserve service member who saw veterans and seniors falling through the gaps between programs — eligible for help on paper, but with no one to walk them to the door. We are a Houston-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and we exist to be that someone.
Three ways to put a roof over a hero's head.
